About Us

Ready for the start at Calshot

The aim of South West Windsurfing is to provide affordable, accessible racing and training to the highest possible standards.
Each year a series of six events and a separate regional championship are held in various locations throughout the Southwest. Most of them in stunningly beautiful situations.

Training is held on the Saturday before the series events. Racing is on the Sunday. We cater for most fleets and all ages, Last year our youngest sailor was 8, and our oldest was over 70.

Safety is always our first concern, we have a fleet of rescue boats and VHF radio to support our events.

Over the last decade, we have nurtured a great many youngsters within our region. Many are now very successful, both Nationally and Internationally. We have constantly grown as a club, and moved forward keeping abreast of new developments, whilst striving to keep the racing fun and rewarding for all ages and capabilities. We have some loan equipment available to enable inexperienced sailors to try racing before buying equipment.

A relaxed family atmosphere is high on our list of priorities. Our more experienced young sailors are actively encouraged to support, inspire and motivate the less experienced both on and off the water. Social events and ‘après windsurf’’ are an important part of our weekends.

We also hold a series of winter training events, we have an exciting program planned for 2009 and the Fun Fleet has become a permanent fleet for parents and older beginners.
